Adventure Sports/Activity Coaching
(if theres a better place to post this, please let me know, not yet a regular visitor!?) I have been tasked at University to design a poster to present the development of a movement skill for a novice performer specific to the opted adventurous activity (I would opt for Kayak/Canoe, or perhaps Caving). Evaluate how to effectively develop movement skills to improve performance in the activity (max: 500 words). I have seen some insightfull stuff from the members and hope you may be able to help, any advice would be gratefully received.
Whatever skill you choose consider which area of fundamental movement skills it has relevance to and start with that.
You should be able to explain the progression using both technical and plain English language. Coaches need to be able to use language appropriate for different people ie. Children, youth or adult beginners, youth or adults who already kayak but want to improve their own skills.
What about taking an image from a fundamental movement - i've chosen balance here, and then explaining how the activity develops and challenges that movement and how that would also relate to other sports?
thanks for the input. communication methods are definitely important, I'll be sure to include it.
Appreciate the input.
I'm really liking this annotated pic idea. Balance/COG as well as many other aspects make a huge difference the the kayaking world. This could possibly be my center piece.
Thanks a lot.
I agree with you it's the language that is appropriate for differnt people. Also your body lauguage and your ability to relate to different age groups. Whether it be children, yought or adult beginners.
All the best
