One off Helpers - DBS checks needed?

Morning all, I'm new on here although I've been coaching for many years now and am sorry if this has been posted before but need some advice.

I'm running a Fishing event and have other licensed fishing coaches helping out but I need more helpers on the day, this will mean putting a helper in a 12foot long boat with Two 14 - 16 year olds.

This is a one off event and I'm a bit confused over the subbject of DBS checks for the helpers.

    many thanks.

    Phil.

    Hi Phil,

Because the event is a one off for said helpers (so not regarded legally as regular) the helpers would not requie a DBS check under my understanding of the Protection of Freedom Act.

If you email me on dturner@sportscoachuk.org I can send over supporting guidance should you be incorrectly challenged on this.

    Best wishes

    David
